4,222 ft (1,287 m) mountain peak and surrounding terrain that spans the three cities of Kamaishi, Ofunato, and Sumita. The virgin forests of hinoki cypress and canopies of rhododendron are home to Honshuujika (cervus nippon) and Japanese macaques. The views from the summit are amazing, from which one can observe the jagged rias shaped coast of the Pacific Ocean. The time required to reach the summit is approximately 2.5 hours (Kamaishi Station to Akasaka Pass course trailhead parking lot (ca. 30 minutes by car) and two hours on foot).
