In this art project, artists take empty houses scattered about Naoshima’s Honmura district and turn them into works of art. The first one, “Kadoya”, was completed in 1998. Since then, six more locations have been added to the residential area: Minamidera, Kinza, Go’o Shrine, Ishibashi, Gokaisho, and Haisha. Visitors may stroll through the area going from house to house while taking in the atmosphere of the district. Kinza is currently closed due to restoration work.
