The longest river on Ishigaki Island is located just a few miles from Ishigaki Airport. Miyara River is one of the two rivers on Ishigaki Island that is lined with mangrove trees, which can grow in salt water. As a result, the mangrove forest that surrounds the river extends out into the sea. During low tide, visitors can spot wildlife, such as crabs and mudskippers, between the mangrove tree roots. Kayaking tours between 1 to 4 hours are offered by private companies.
